Defined by a dynamic blend of theory and practice, World Arts and Cultures/Dance (WACD) is led by a renowned faculty of scholars, activists, curators, filmmakers, and choreographers dedicated to critical cross-cultural analysis and art-making. Our department is the place to make dances, explore digital media, curate exhibitions, become an arts activist, and develop scholarly expertise in culture and the arts. We draw upon multiple disciplines and artistic approaches while encouraging students to position their work within broad social contexts.
Contract One Year Position – 100% time
Under the general supervision of the department's Management Services Officer (MSO), the Administrative Coordinator provides support to the Department of World Arts and Cultures Dance (WACD) in the areas of undergraduate and graduate course instruction; events and performances; facilities; and supervision of part-time employees responsible for reception and processing purchasing and reimbursement transactions. WACD is located in Glorya Kaufman Hall, a 30,000 square foot two-story facility on north campus which houses 15 faculty, 18 lecturers, 50 graduate students, 215 undergraduate students and 13 staff, a video library and recording studio, the Glorya Kaufman Dance Theater, the Amber Dance Studio, the Kaufman Family Garden Theater, the Crystal Dance Studio, and the Phoenix Conference Room.
Primary responsibilities include special event coordination, marketing and publicity, speaker/performer visas and logistics, and supervision of event volunteers; classroom performance coordination and instructional assistance to faculty, instructors and guests; building coordinator duties; supervision of part-time employees who handle front office duties; process purchasing and reimbursement transactions.
The Coordinator independently prioritizes and completes ongoing tasks, following established department guidelines and university policies. Works closely with the Production and Facilities Managers. Position is supervised by the MSO. Position supervises 2-4 part-time student employees.
