CALL TO ARTISTS – RESIST!
For poets, musicians, comics
RESIST! – Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church invites artists to participate in an open mic on Thursday, July 20, from 7-9 p.m. during the Third Thursday Canoga Park Artwalk. Deadline to reserve a spot is July 6.
Selected performers will challenge or inspire the audience to resist. As we all struggle to make sense of the new president and all that surrounds him, we need artists to help us understand who we are in this new america. Likewise, artists need to turn to their own art to help make sense of it all for themselves.
Unitarian Universalists believes in the inherent worth and dignity of every person and strives for a world community of peace, liberty, and justice for all. To that end, we will open our sanctuary up to the greater community in the spirit of compassion and acceptance as we struggle to grow spiritually, in our own way, during these tumultuous times. Everyone is welcome – all faiths, nationalities, genders, ages, sexual orientations.
This is the fifth year that Emerson UUC has participated in the Canoga Park Artwalk, produced by 11:11 A Creative Collective. The walk is open from 6-10 p.m. so be sure to grab dinner off of one of the food trucks, check out the vendors, and appreciate street performers before and after the open mic.
Send your name, contact information, and what you will be performing to firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline is July 6.
