PART-TIME LECTURER IN DANCE (SPECIAL TOPIC)
Scripps College, a women’s liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for a part-time Lecturer to teach a full credit course (Intermediate level) in Hip-Hop, Afro-Brazilian, or Latinx/Latin American dance practice during
Spring semester 2018. In this course, historical, cultural, and aesthetic issues should augment the studio experience. Preferred class time is Tuesday and Thursday, 4:45-6:35p.m., although this may be negotiable. The preferred applicant will have an M.A.,
M.F.A. or Ph.D. in Dance; two years experience in teaching dance from a critical perspective ideally at the college level; professional performing experience in the proposed style; and the ability to direct written work as part of the studio classes.
The Scripps Dance program has two full-time faculty and several part-time instructors. It offers a B.A. degree with a major or minor in Dance. All Scripps Dance classes strive to place the course material within the broader historical, aesthetic and cultural context.
