CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LONG BEACH Tenure-Track Position Opening College of the Arts, Department of Dance is looking for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Dance.

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: M.A. or M.S. Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biomechanics, Physical Therapy or a related science discipline. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the masters or doctoral degree by August 1, 2016 Demonstrated evidence of clinical or teaching experience with dancers in a university or professional setting; demonstrated evidence of research, scholarly and creative activities in dance science; demonstrated ability to teach courses in two or more of the following areas: Anatomy for the Dancer, Placement for the Dancer, Pilates, Dance Pedagogy (from a scientific perspective); demonstrated evidence of training as a dancer in a university or pre-professional setting. Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: PhD. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science,Biomechanics, Physical Therapy or a related science discipline. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2016. Minor or undergraduate degree in Dance or four or more years of pre-professional dance training. Experience in clinical work related to dance injuries, demonstrated evidence of a professional record of research, scholarly and creative activities in dance science on a national or international level. Experience working with dance teachers regarding application of scientific principles to teaching dance technique. Two years or more of teaching experience in dance science undergraduate or graduate courses, including anatomy, in a college setting. Active involvement in dance science professional organizations. Demonstrated success serving as a liaison between academic departments. Current Pilates teaching certificate from a 450-hour comprehensive Pilates training program or comparable Pilates professional experience (online- only programs excluded). Training and expertise to teach one other course in the Department of Dance.
DUTIES: Teach at least four of the following undergraduate and graduate courses as appropriate to training and expertise: Anatomy for the Dancer, Anatomy in Clay Laboratory, Pilates, Placement for the Dancer, and Scientific Principles as related to teaching dance technique. May be assigned to teach other department coureses appropraite to training and expertise. Serve as the dance science coordinator for research, mentoring, and course access for students in the Option in Dance Science. Serve as a liaison between related departments to promote the option in Dance Science that is currently part of the curriculum; produce scholarly activity and publish in the field of dance science; serve as the Pilates Center coordinator; participate in service to the department college, and university committees.
