Bharatanatyam, one of India's classical dance forms, has its origins in the temples and courts of Southern India. Now performed and practiced all over the world, Bharatanatyam has a well-developed structure of physicality and expressive lyricism. The form has a strong component of footwork that helps in rhythm training and to develop musicality in movement. Another aspect of Bharatanatyam is Abhinaya - acting or expressive technique. Music, rhythm, poetry and expression are an integral part of the dance. Class focuses on all aspects in a systematic and interesting way. Open enrollment. Beginners welcome. www.navarasa.org.
