The City of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division seeks proposals from artists and artisans living in Los Angeles County for one of two 14-week long Studio Residency terms, May 3 – August 9, 2017 and August 9 – November 15, 2017. Residencies take place at the Camera Obscura Art Lab, in a glass-walled studio with spectacular ocean views. The Camera Obscura is an iconic midcentury park building in Palisades Park overlooking the Santa Monica Pier, four blocks away from the terminus of the Expo line.
The City seeks artists whose work offers opportunity for sharing with the public through example and instruction. Individuals and partners/collectives will be considered. The call is open to all disciplines. An honorarium of $1500 and use of the facility daily and for a final exhibit/presentation is offered to each successful applicant. Notification of selected residents will take place in early March, 2017. Submissions are due on Wednesday March 1, 2017 by 5pm.
